Use Testimonials on Your Website More Effectively With These 3 Tips

A basic challenge faced by online marketers is building trust so that prospects are willing to try their products. Once you’ve developed a relationship with customers this is no longer a problem, but how do you go about convincing new customers to trust you? Honest testimonials are one of the most effective ways to bridge the gap between someone not knowing anything about you and feeling confident enough to click on the order button. Using testimonials that bring you more sales and leads isn’t hard, but it does involve following a certain strategy, and the following three tips will guide you in the right direction.
Try using only those type of testimonials that actually fit or prove your campaign’s point, so that it becomes easier for the prospect to rely on your customers as well as rely on you. If, for instance, you created a course on how to improve your golf swing, the testimonials you want are ones that talk about how people’s golf swing got better from your course, not discussions about golf in general or any other unrelated matters. So when you ask people for testimonials, encourage them to stay on topic.
You can also try to address objections in the testimonial. If a potential customer finds out that he/she shares the same fear as your current customers who wrote the testimonial, along with the exact way he overcame them, there are chances that he will turn from a prospect to a customer. These type of testimonials will encourage people to order your product who might otherwise shy away from it because of their concerns.
It’s a mistake to make major changes to the testimonials you receive. You don’t want to edit testimonials too much or they will all sound like you wrote them yourself. The point of testimonials isn’t to publish great literature, but to show the individual style and perspective of each person who sends you one. Grammatical or spelling errors can be edited, as these can make it difficult for people to read the testimonial. Testimonials work best when they are original and unedited, so stick to this rule whenever you can. These are simple but very important factors to keep in mind when you create your sales pages, blogs and web sites. Your aim here is to increase the trust of your prospect in your product and help them reach a buying decision, and this is only possible when they know for sure that this is the solution they need.
